Dreaded call from Caitlyn
Troy was off today, so he was at home with no car. Zack had school, Caitlyn and I both worked. This afternoon, mom and I were documenting peacocks to ultimately decide what to keep and what to sell. I got a call from Caitlyn asking me to transfer money to her card so she could get lunch. I sent some and within a few minutes got another call from her in hysterics. I couldn't understand anything she was saying. She was screaming and crying and all I got was something about Arby's and that she was sorry. I finally just asked if I needed to come there. She yelled YES! and hung up. We really had no idea what was going on. Zack and Dad both got in my truck and we headed that way. It didn't really hit me that she had been in a wreck until the fire truck pulled out with it's lights on in front of us. Turns out, she had turned in front of another car and it had spun her completely around into another lane. There was no way her truck was going anywhere. She finally calmed down and was able to talk to the officers. In the other car, the passenger had a cut on his leg and was taken away by ambulance. Caitlyn was physically fine and the other driver was also. It's amazing how fast your situation can change! Caitlyn's truck was towed to storage and the search began for replacement parts...or another truck...who knows.

Where's the Baby???
I got a call from mom this morning. She was already out doing chores and couldn't find the baby. Turns out, she was with the best babysitter on the property...Brutus!.

Processing Day
We made the decision to have some of our turkeys processed this year and today is the day. Zack and I loaded them up in his truck last night so they would be ready for delivery this morning. We found that 2 were missing 2 birds. We found them killed outside the fence. I'm suspecting Rudy...the stray that claimed us as his family. When Troy got home this morning, we found that we had accidentally loaded up my oldest hen to take. After all re-arranging had been done, we had 7 to take. I won't lie, I had a hard time keeping it together. I love my animals and just couldn't stop the tears. The kids and I drove back down to pick them up this evening. The largest dressed out at 16 lbs and the smallest at 8 lbs. It seems that 6 months is a bit to early to process a heritage turkey. Our older ones dressed out bigger. I thought I had 2 hens and 2 young toms left at home. Unfortunately, I was wrong...I have 1 hen and 3 toms. I think I'm going to purchase some bourbon red hens for next spring...we'll see...
