And...The Plans Change Again

Yesterday, Caitlyn went and talked to her previous job here.  They hired her back without an issue at all.  She will have to finish out her job in Branson and will continue to drive to Springfield for school.  This morning, I find out that she is planning on going back to Branson to stay at least through this week.  Now, I'm wondering why in the world we moved her Sunday night for her just to go back today.  It does make sense to save on gas, but I'm not sure why she just didn't wait until her work schedule was finished before she moved.  I love her dearly, but these teenage years are wearing on me!  My mom's words of support..."well it won't be the first or last crazy thing you will do for your kids"...gee thanks...she knows from experience, she raised 3 of us girls.

Bringing A Kid Back Home

Yesterday, I got a call from Caitlyn for us to come get her and move her back home.  She says it will be temporary until she can save enough money to get a regular apartment instead of an extended stay motel.  She is planning on giving her notice at Silver Dollar City and working back home for now and driving to and from school in Springfield.  I was glad to hear she was finally ready to come back home, but I know she is still a kid and finding her place in this world is going to take her time.  I'm trying my best not to interfere unless she asks, but keeping quiet on things has become increasingly difficult.  After Troy got off work we made the trip back to Branson with the intentions of loading her up and bringing her home.  Unfortunately, that decision didn't come easy for Caitlyn and when we arrived, she hadn't packed anything up.  It was a long night, especially since Troy had to work this morning.  We survived and she is home today...for how long? Who knows....

Another Kid Rescue!

I got a call this morning from Caitlyn.  She ended up stranded on the curvy, hilly road on the way to work at Silver Dollar City.  Apparently, the truck started slowing down to the point of just stopping.  Someone stopped to help her push her truck to the side of the road and then they gave her a ride to work.  Today wasn't a good day for this to happen.  Troy is back on days so he won't get off work until 6pm.  Caitlyn gets off work at around 6pm also and won't have a way back to her room.  Dad said he would go with me not knowing what we were going to have to do when we got there.  From discussions with Zack and Dad, I had decided she just needed more gas in the truck.  Dad thought there may be a fuel pump or filter problem.  Regardless, we were just hoping it was a quick fix and the truck would be up and going before dark.

We made it to the employee parking lot at the exact time Caitlyn came in on the employee shuttle...perfect timing.  We found her truck...thank goodness it hadn't started rolling.  I would have either gone over the cliff at the bottom of the hill, or followed the guard rail around the corner to who knows where.  Here's Caitlyn...she would kill me to know I posted this picture, but I couldn't resist.  Isn't she cute in her Silver Dollar City "uniform"?  I was surprised to see that her hair matched her dress and asked if she changed it to match each dress she had...you just never know with teenagers.

Once we got her truck to the gas station, dad filled it and the darn truck started right up.  She thinks someone is stealing her gas, so before we left I got her a locked gas cap.  Pretty sad...a 2 hour drive to rescue my middle baby because she ran out of gas...lol.  At least when I run out of gas I'm a lot closer to home for someone to come rescue! (And, yes, unfortunately, I run out of gas more that I would want to admit).  All in all, not a bad trip...just a long one.
