A new baby!

This evening I heard a commotion outside with the goats.  I went to check...our youngest pygmy doe was crying and would just drop to the ground.  Turns out, she was in labor...very unexpected.  She hadn't showed any signs of even being pregnant.  We got her moved to the chicken pen so she would have access to the barn and fresh straw and would be away from the other goats.  Since it was her first delivery, I wanted to stay with her.  When the first signs of the baby showed...it was ears!  Not good at all....no nose, no hooves!  We managed to get the baby's head out, but her airway was being shut off by the birth canal.  Momma pushed a few times and got shoulders and front legs out..then the rest of the baby delivered.  The baby wasn't moving much.  We rubbed her to get her breathing and moving...finally she shook her head.  We laid her next to Paisley for momma instinct to kick in.
Troy ended up suctioning out her nose to help her out.  Within a short amount of time, she was up and awake.
And then, back down for the night...with the chickens.
